Day Six & Seven | Venice (Chioggia), Italy

Venetian rule over the Adriatic waves lasted for over a millennium. Many Europeans fled to Venice and its nearby towns, including Chioggia, as the Roman Empire declined during the 8th century. Day Eight | Machu Picchu - The Lost City

Embark on your second guided tour of the Lost City early in the morning before the day-visitors from Cusco and the Sacred Valley arrive. A trip to Machu Picchu in the early morning will be one of your most memorable travel experiences, with fewer people and softer light as the sun breaks over the surrounding mountain peaks. Visit Machu Picchu at your own pace after lunch at Sanctuary Lodge, located on a mountaintop near Machu Picchu. Day Nine-Ten | Cusco

Visit the rustic Andean town of Chincheros in the Sacred Valley by train. This highland town is renowned for its weavers, who live in the shadow of the Vilcabamba Range. Take some time to explore Breytzi before returning to Cusco to learn more about the enduring traditions of its residents and observe the ancient weaving techniques still being utilized to create textiles that are of a higher quality and design.

Start your sightseeing tour outside town by visiting Sacsayhuaman. During the 14th century, the massive limestone blocks of this venerated complex were cut with such precision that they fit together without mortar like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. The open-air tram cars offer stunning views of Arenal Volcano and the lake, as well as a chance to immerse yourself in the forest’s sights and sounds. Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City

Day One & Two | Siem Reap – Kampong Cham, Cambodia – Embarkation

From Siem Reap, travel via motorcoach to Kampong Cham where you will embark on your seven-night cruise on the AmaDara. Afternoon excursions take you to the Twin Mountains, known as Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei (male and female mountains). According to Khmer legend, the twin mountains were formed after a competition between men and women of an ancient Cambodian kingdom to determine which gender would propose marriage. It is said that the women lit a fire at night, making the men think the sun was rising. Consequently, the men stopped working and the women won. So, men still need permission from the woman’s parents, and Phnom Srei is higher than Phnom Pros. The evening will conclude with a Welcome Dinner with fellow guests.

Day Two | | Angkor Ban – Oknhatey

Visit Angkor Ban in the morning, one of the few Cambodian villages that was not destroyed by the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. In this region, people still live in wooden abodes and maintain their old cultural traditions. Amidst the hustle and bustle of local villagers’ daily agricultural activity, hundreds of wooden houses are preserved on stilts, shaded by banana trees. On the lush banks of the Mekong River, Oknhatey or “Silk Island” is the ship’s next stop. There is a rich tradition of silk weaving on this island. Day Three | Oudong – Kampong Tralach – Phnom Penh

Continuing your cruise, you will sail to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. On this morning excursion, you will visit Oudong, the former royal capital of Cambodia between the early 17th century and 1866. Nowadays, Oudong is a pilgrimage site for Cambodians. Take part in a Buddhist Blessing Ceremony at one of the monasteries while here. Visit Oudong and experience a truly authentic excursion, an oxcart ride through Kampong Tralach, a local village. Afterwards, take a tuk tuk ride through Phnom Penh and enjoy the city’s French Colonial architecture and tree-lined boulevards set against Angkorian monuments. As your ship crosses the Vietnamese border, take a cruise along the Mekong River. Discover Tan Chau, a small town on the Mekong River that’s unspoiled by tourism. By taking a traditional “xe-loi” (trishaw) around the town, with stops at silk-making and rattan mat workshops, you will be able to experience an authentic experience, followed by a boat ride across the Mekong River to “Evergreen Island.” Or, return to Tan Chau after visiting a rattan mat workshop, then take a boat ride to Evergreen Island. Day One & Two | Allures of Muscat

Upon arrival, you will be greeted and escorted to the Prime Class Lounge, where you can relax and enjoy a complimentary beverage while our professional staff handles all of your arrival formalities, including the processing of your visa. Your luggage will then be collected on your behalf after you’ve been escorted through the fast-track immigration lane. After escorting you through customs, exit the terminal where your chauffeured car awaits to transport you to our luxury urban resort.

As Muscat and Oman blend 21st-century vibrancy and ancient cultural traditions, there is much to discover. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is the first stop on your guided sightseeing tour this morning. An enormous rug woven with Persian silk and a Swarovski crystal chandelier dominate the interior of this gleaming Rajasthani sandstone building. At the Bait Al Zubair Museum, you can learn more about the region’s history. Your private guide will take you to the centuries-old Mutrah souk, where you can purchase Omani incense, silver, spices, traditional sweets, and other souvenirs and gifts. At the end of your sightseeing tour, you will see the Al Alam Palace and two Portuguese forts that were built in the 16th century to protect Muscat harbor following two Ottoman sacks. You will dine this evening with the curator of the Bait Adam Museum, known for its fine collection of rare coins, stamps, maps, historical documents, etc.

Day Three | Onward to Jebel Akhdar

Depart Muscat this morning to visit Jabrin. In the late 1600’s, this imposing fortified castle rose from the plains and became an important center of learning for medicine and Islamic law. After that, explore the Bahla Fort, a fortified oasis settlement from the medieval Islamic period that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your visit to a nearby village, you will have the opportunity to interact with local ceramic artisans and even create your own pottery.

Journey into the Jebel Akhdar Mountains via Misfah, a pretty mountain village with traditional stone dwellings. Enjoy dramatic canyon views from the balcony of your spacious guestroom at our luxury mountain resort.

Day Four | Nizwa + Wahiba Sands

From the Jebel Akhdar Mountains, descend to Nizwa, an ancient city set on a broad plain surrounded by palm oases and rugged peaks. Explore the Nizwa Souk after visiting the historic Nizwa Fort, which was built in the 17th century. Visitors come to see the fine antiques, silver jewelry and finely-wrought Omani khanjars, but locals also go to this market to buy produce, meat, and other necessities.

Amidst an ever-changing landscape, huge red and white sand dunes soar to more than 600 feet in the Wahibi Sands wilderness. Experience the unique flora and fauna of this arid landscape and visit a Bedouin family in their modest home in a small village. Dine under the desert sky this evening after a sunset camel safari. At our evocative desert encampment, you can enjoy an unforgettable night in your air-conditioned under-canvas suite.

Day Five | Wadi Bani Khalid + Back to Muscat

As we depart our desert encampment, we’ll find ourselves in Wadi Bani Khalid, a lush valley filled with date palms, agricultural villages, and clear flowing waters that provide an amazing contrast to the desert scenery we left behind. Discover the process of making these traditional Arabian sailing vessels at a dhow factory. Afterwards, visit Bibi Maryam’s tomb, which has impressive ruins. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this impressive mausoleum embodies the vanished glory of Qalhat, an ancient city that captured the imagination of long-ago travelers like Marco Polo.

As you return to Muscat, you’ll see a limestone crater lake and, if you’d like, swim in the calm turquoise waters of Fins Beach. Your luxury waterfront hotel awaits you once again when you return to Muscat.

Day Six | Depart from Oman

You will be chauffeured to the airport after breakfast. The Prime Class Lounge awaits you once you’ve cleared immigration and customs formalities.

Day Four | Rhine Gorge

Upon reaching Rüdesheim, cruise through the castle-filled Rhine River Gorge. Upon arrival in Rüdesheim, you will have four options for morning excursions. A wine tasting at a wine cellar followed by a visit to a Christmas Market will delight wine connoisseurs. You can also hike through the vineyards. You can also take a gondola ride over Rüdesheim’s vineyards followed by a visit to the Christmas Market. A guided bike tour along the Rhine River and through the town is another option before visiting the Christmas market. Siefried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum can be visited later in the day, and Rüdesheimer coffee is one of the town’s specialties.

Day Five | Ludwigshafen

You have the choice to explore two of Germany’s historically rich cities, along with their festive Christmas Markets. Visit Heidelberg, a city filled with mighty castles and a historic university that will capture your heart. During your visit, stroll along Europe’s longest pedestrian shopping street, the Hauptstrasse, and take in the Yuletide celebrations at the town’s Christmas Markets. Alternatively, you can hike the Philosopher’s Path along the Neckar River followed by a visit to the Christmas Markets. You can also bike along the Neckar River to Ladenburg and visit its Marktplatz, or explore Speyer, one of Germany’s oldest cities, which has the largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to its Christmas market, you will be able to admire the romantic Imperial cathedral (“Kaiserdom”) from the famous Maximilianstrasse.

Day Six | Strasbourg

Strasbourg is even more enticing during Advent. In France, the oldest Christmas market is the Christkindelsmärik, which dates back to 1570. Tour the Place de la Republique, the European Parliament and the Parc de l’Orangerie on a panoramic bus tour. On the Grande Île, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, walk through the historic town center and then walk through “La Petite France” to see the famous astronomical clock at the Cathedral de Nôtre Dame before visiting the town’s famous Christmas Market. Strasbourg’s different districts can also be explored by bicycle. Visit Gengenbach’s Christmas Markets and the town’s famous Advent calendar later in the day.

Day Seven | Breisach

The town of Breisach is the starting point for several different excursions. Take a trip back in time to the enchanting Alsatian town of Riquewihr, which looks almost as it did in the 16th century. You will be able to admire historic architecture and famous sights, such as the Dolder Gate, followed by a visit to its charming Christmas Markets. Alternatively, you can head to Freiburg, founded in 1120, to visit Freiburg’s Münster, the greatest Gothic cathedral on earth, before heading to the Freiburg Christmas Markets.
