Day One & Two | Cape Town



Add-On Activities
- The District Six Tour and Lunch | Tour District Six, which displays racial intemperance and injustice dating from the apartheid era in South Africa. Following your tour, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, which offers a variety of meat dishes and vegetarian plate options.
- City Walking Tour and Optional Shopping at V&A Waterfront | Visit The Houses of Parliament, Company’s Garden Park and St. George’s Cathedral on your stroll along the city’s historic center. In the city’s waterfront, the V&A Waterfront has over 450 shops, a bevy of dining options, and leisure and entertainment facilities you can explore on your own.
- Celebration of Africa Dinner | Embrace the mystical wisdom of African proverbs while enjoying an interactive drumming class infused with over 1,000 years of history, legend, and artistry. Then, savor the lively flavors of modern African cuisine. Celebrate Africa with Malian puppeteers who tell African folk tales and dramatize the relationship between humans and the spiritual world during dinner.
Day Three & Four | Cape Town
Travel by motor coach to the Cape of Good Hope for a photo stop. Experience the same breathtaking view that greeted Portuguese explorers Bartolomeu Dias and Vasco da Gama in the 15th century! On a scenic drive to Cape Point, you’ll get a glimpse of the stunning coastline. Flying Dutchman Funicular rides will take you up the mountainous slope through fynbos to the top of the lighthouse. Enjoy the panoramic views as you hike over the natural terrain. Walk along a paved nature trail back down to the parking area.

- African Penguins at Boulders Beach | The charming African penguins can be found at Boulders Beach, a short walk away. With its white sand beach and granite boulders lining the beach, this cove is located in the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Watch these adorable birds wade and waddle around while you enjoy their antics!
- Spier Wine Farm Eagle Encounters | You can explore the wildlife rehabilitation and conservation center of South Africa’s oldest winery, Spier Wine Farm, through the verdant Cape Town countryside. Experience up-close encounters with eagles, hawks, owls and vultures at Eagle Encounters, plus marvel at falconry displays that demonstrate their unique abilities.
- Lunch in the Winelands | Get a taste of the rich South African wine country while enjoying a delectable lunch.
- Dinner on Your Own in Cape Town | There are a variety of casual cafes and fine dining establishments to choose from throughout Cape Town. Ask your expert guide to recommend the restaurants that will suit your family’s tastes.
Day Five & Six | Knysana
Fly from Cape Town to George on a short flight. Visit Birds of Eden for a privately guided tour of its special sanctuary, which houses a large collection of bird species that fly freely under its netted dome. Discover the vibrantly colored birds and listen to their songs reverberating throughout the indigenous forest of the aviary. Explore and photograph magnificent and majestic big cats, including lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars and more, on a guided walking safari. Located in a large natural habitat that has been constructed specifically for big cats, Jukani is a forever home for rescued big cats.

- Lunch at Bramon Wine Estate | At the exquisite Bramon Wine Estate, you can enjoy a delicious Mediterranean lunch overlooking the vineyards.
- Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary | There are lemurs, gibbons, capuchins, and more to see after lunch! Visit Monkeyland, the world’s first primate sanctuary, where 11 primates roam freely in a high canopy forest. It houses 18 species of primates.
- Featherbed Nature Reserve | Take a ferry across the Knysna Lagoon to Featherbed Nature Reserve with its two sandstone cliffs — the Knysa Heads — standing like sentinels on either side. Enjoy the scenery from a 4-wheel drive Unimog, an off-road vehicle commonly used on bumpy terrain, as you travel to the clifftop. Take a breather from the cliffs and enjoy the panoramic views! To reach the restaurant for lunch, follow trails through the lush reserve.
Day Seven | Kapama Game Reserve
Taking the flight from George to Hoedspruit will bring you to safari country from Knysna’s seaside. Visit the Kapama River Lodge near Kruger National Park in a 4×4 safari vehicle. Experience a short tour of the game reserve before being checked into your luxurious lodge, your home for the next three nights. In the Siyatla Lounge, a light buffet lunch is served under an open-beamed thatched roof and massive leadwood tree trunks.

- Evening Game Drive | Embark on a bush safari with a ranger and tracker in “Big Five” country, home to lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo. At sunset, refreshments are served so that you can watch the transition from day to night. Tracker will scan the horizon for glowing nocturnal eyes with a spotlight!
Day Eight | Kapama Game Reserve
Get up early and greet the day with tea, coffee, and traditional South African biscuits called rusks. At first light, embark on an exclusive safari to see the big cats returning from a night of hunting! You might even spot an elephant herd grazing in the wild or a regal adult lion passing by.

- Snakes and Insects Presentation | Come see live snakes and insects in a fascinating and informative presentation by a leading reptile expert! Your preconceived notions about reptiles and other crawling creatures will be forever changed.
- Evening Game Drive | Embark on a pre-dinner game drive with a ranger and tracker in a safari vehicle.
Day Nine | Kapama Game Reserve
Start your day early with another exclusive safari. The rangers and trackers help you spot the Big Five species—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo—as well as giraffes, baboons, and birds. Enjoy a sumptuous African farewell feast prepared by the lodge’s talented chefs with your fellow Adventurers. You will be captivated by the colorful dance, drumming, and singing presented by a group of Shangaan performers.

- Archery Lessons | Learn the ancient art of archery from a local expert as you nock an arrow and aim true.
- Evening Game Drive | With your tracker and ranger, take a game drive in the bush in the evening. In the wake of the setting sun, raise a glass in tribute to the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.
